« Early Morning Load In | Main | The Apple Doesn't Fall Far from the Tree »

October 22, 2006

Ok, don't I miss fall trips to the cider mill. Cider and donuts sound so good! The weather here has been perfect for a trip. Unfortunately, when I asked the Germans at work if such places exist over here in Deutschland, they all looked at me like I was from outer space. It seems that apples, in Germany, are only harvested for wine; unless, of course, you bring your own bushel of apples and pay to have it turned into cider. Naturally, 10-20% of your apple bushel must go to the cider making person as payment, but it's a small price to pay I guess. The sentiment over here is why waste perfectly good fruit on baked goods when you can make booze out of it. Gotta love Europe...and it definitely makes me appreciate home sweet home.
